The Clinical Research Project Assistant works closely with the Clinical Research Project Coordinator and Division Head to facilitate enrollment of patients from the SickKids Emergency Department (ED) into various forward-thinking and impactful local, national and international research studies. We are looking for highly organized and motivated individuals to promote research participation, coordinate recruitment, and manage data collection.
Here's What You'll Get to Do:
· Co-supervise research volunteers (with Research Coordinator)
· Familiarize yourself with inclusion/exclusion criteria for all active ED research studies
· Identify eligible patients in the ED
· Explain studies to patients and families
· Obtain informed consent and assent
· Administer research questionnaires and assessments where required
· Extract relevant information from electronic medical records to complete data collection forms
· Maintain study screening and recruitment tracking logs for multiple studies
· Enter data and complete follow-up phone calls with participants as needed
· Liaise with clinical staff, research team members and research volunteers.
Here's What You'll Need:
· Post-secondary degree in sciences, social sciences or a health related discipline
· Previous research experience preferred; experience in a pediatric clinical research an asset
· Comfortable working with patients and families
· Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team
· Excellent communication skills with families, nurses and physicians
· Effective organizational, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple demands
· Strong computer skills; experience with online databases (i.e. REDCap, MyChart) a plus
· Detail oriented
· Firm understanding of research policies, ethics, and regulations; completion of TCPS2 Ethics Training and/or Good Clinical Practice (GCP) an asset.
· A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives.
Employment Type:
· Hours of Work: evenings (4-10pm) on Fridays and Saturdays, with availability as needed during the week to help cover for RA absences
· Contract Length: Temporary 1 year contract, casual 0.00 FTE
