Associate IT Support Specialist (temporary)


Location: downtown Toronto, ON (onsite, 5 days/week), convenient downtown location within walking distance of Union Station.
Duration: Approximately 6 months, with potential for extension or longer-term opportunities
Pay Rate: $35.00 - $40.00/hour commensurate based on experience

A dynamic and growing client in the SAAS space is seeking an Associate IT Support Specialist to join their team on an urgent full-time, interim basis. This role is ideal for someone with advanced IT support expertise with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who enjoys helping people, solving technical problems, and supporting a modern workplace environment (heave Mac focused). The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support to both onsite and remote employees in Canada (and some support in other countries as needed) while gaining exposure to cloud platforms, device management, onboarding processes, and IT operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality end-user support for hardware, software, and general IT issues.

  • Provide technical support for both macOS and Windows environments, with a strong emphasis on Mac support and troubleshooting.

  • Support office technology including printers, meeting room technology, video conferencing systems, room scheduling tools, and wireless networks.

  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including:

    • Device provisioning and deployment

    • Account setup and deactivation

    • Access management

    • New hire technology orientation

  • Manage laptop lifecycle processes including imaging, configuration, inventory tracking, shipping, receiving, and asset management.

  • Administer and support cloud-based business applications and collaboration platforms.

  • Partner with workplace and security teams to ensure smooth employee experiences and device compliance.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, and support runbooks.

  • Assist with desk moves, office technology setups, and workplace technology projects.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ year of IT support, help desk, desktop support, or technical support experience preferred.

  • Graduates with an IT, Computer Science, or related diploma/degree.

  • Experience supporting Apple Mac devices in a professional environment.

  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and common business applications.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based productivity and identity platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure AD/Entra ID, Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Zoom, Jira, or similar technologies.

  • Strong customer service mindset and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable lifting and moving IT equipment as required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with endpoint management tools.

  • Exposure to user provisioning and identity management.

  • Knowledge of IT documentation and process creation.

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, Microsoft Fundamentals, or similar.

  • Interest in systems administration, automation, and IT operations.
