Our Syncrude Maintenance team is looking for a seasoned professional to lead our Maintenance Turnaround events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • ​Trade Certificate, Technologist Diploma, or Degree with 15+ years of progressive experience in plant maintenance, operations, and/or engineering, preferably within Oil Sands or Refining
  • Proven success leading large-scale turnaround events across the full lifecycle, with strong project and contractor management experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, build relationships, and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams while making sound decisions and driving results
  • Deep understanding of maintenance processes, with a focus on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and resolving complex issues effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the safe, efficient planning, execution, and closeout of Major Turnaround events at Syncrude Mildred Lake, ensuring alignment with Suncor’s turnaround processes, schedules, and cost expectations
  • Collaborate across functions to deliver successful turnaround outcomes, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and providing leadership, coaching, and on-call support to a multi-discipline team
  • Define and communicate the vision for major turnaround events; develop, implement, and steward execution plans to achieve operational excellence and project objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement by challenging existing strategies, enhancing service delivery models, and ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied
  • Set and support turnaround goals for employees and contractors while guiding teams to deliver effective, high-quality project execution

Location and Other Key Details:

  • This is a Fort McMurray based position, located at our Syncrude Mildred Lake Facility
  • This is a Monday to Friday, 40 hour work week with additional hours based on business need
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
