Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer – Industrial Distribution & Substation Design for a full-time opportunity in Edmonton, AB (hybrid). This role is ideal for an experienced and technically strong electrical engineer who enjoys leading complex industrial projects, mentoring junior staff, and taking ownership of end-to-end engineering delivery in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

In this position, you will lead electrical design and engineering activities across industrial distribution systems, substations, protection schemes, and brownfield upgrades. You will work across sectors such as oil & gas, mining, utilities, and renewables while contributing to both technical execution and project leadership within a highly experienced engineering team.

  • Salary: Up to $165,000 + bonus

  • Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid)

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Employment Type: Full-time | Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for industrial distribution systems (480V, 600V, 4.16kV, 13.8kV)

  • Design and specify switchgear, MCCs, motor control systems, soft starters, and automatic transfer schemes

  • Develop protection schemes for brownfield retrofits and legacy equipment replacement

  • Lead substation design projects for industrial clients including mining, oil & gas, and utilities

  • Oversee technical design delivery, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and client requirements

  • Provide technical mentorship, guidance, and design review for junior and intermediate engineers

  • Manage project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, and multi-disciplinary coordination

  • Stamp and approve engineering designs as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)

  • Support client relationship management and contribute to business development initiatives

  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary engineering teams on diverse industrial projects

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Alberta or transferable jurisdiction

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial environments

  • Strong experience in power distribution systems, substation design, or protection engineering

  • Background in oil & gas, mining, utilities, heavy industry, or industrial consulting

  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineering teams

  • Experience with brownfield or retrofit projects is considered an asset

  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Comfortable taking technical ownership and stamping engineering designs
