A career as Chief Advisor – Governance & Oversight of Operational risk and resilience mean playing a key role in the Bank's operational readiness and resilience by translating the prudential requirements issued by regulators and expectations of internal committees into concrete, sustainable and measurable operational practices for the Bank.

Your role is located within the Senior Management Team on Governance and Transformation of Operational and Third-Party Risks, located within the Bank's second line of defence. Without direct line authority, your role places you as the lead for the team's practises, where your ability to influence will be put forward to achieving your objectives in this key role.

With your expertise in governance, operational risk and resilience, as well as your ability to structure, prioritise and ensure the smooth functioning of the framework’s day-to-day operations, you contribute directly to regulatory compliance, reduce risk and increase the Bank's operational maturity in a sustainable manner. This role requires proven leadership that will ensure your success as part of the team you are joining.

Your job:
  • Act as an expert reference and operational anchor for governance and oversight of operational risk and resilience within the Bank.
  • Lead the team on the day-to-day operations of the operational risk management framework in line with the regulatory requirements of OSFI Guideline E-21: Planning, risk-based prioritisation, monitoring deliverables and managing dependencies.
  • Interpret each of the regulatory requirements and translate them into clear operational expectations, controls, quality criteria and proof requirements applicable within the Bank, both by the first and second lines.
  • Be at the forefront of discussions with the Bank's Internal Audit and regulators on the adequacy or inadequacy of the governance framework, methodological aspects or execution by stakeholders.
  • Structure and promote governance rituals: Follow-ups, dashboards, indicators, escalation mechanisms and issue management.
  • Review, challenge and ensure consistency of risk and control assessments (CARR, RCA, Kris/KPIs, incidents, losses, scenarios) based on actual operational expectations of the operational risk management framework to identify gaps and improvements needed.
  • Oversee both operational risk management oversight and operational resilience monitoring in a consistent and sustainable logical suite: Critical operations, disruption tolerances, testing, continuity and recovery.
  • Prepare presentations for and actively contribute to relevant governance committees and tribunes.
  • Ensure the quality of documentation, its accessibility according to the target audience (access management), traceability and robustness of deliverables related to each of the points mentioned above.

Your team:
You work on an Operational risk and resilience Governance and Oversight team made up of several other Senior Advisors, and work closely with teams of risk experts, business sectors, Operations, Technology and Corporate functions at the Bank.

Prerequisites:
  • 10 years or more of relevant experience in risk management, particularly in operational risk, resilience, technology or business continuity.
  • Proven experience in second line of defense, internal audit or in a risk governance function.
  • Proficiency in prudential requirements and operational risk and resilience frameworks (OSFI Guideline E-21 or equivalent).
  • Ability to structure, prioritize and deliver in complex and cross-sector contexts
