Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Join RBC's Enterprise Resiliency Tools team to architect and lead the development of next-generation enterprise applications while shaping observability standards across the organization. You'll drive critical initiatives in AI-driven automation, modern cloud infrastructure, and data-driven insights—directly impacting how RBC operates at scale. Lead a high-performing engineering culture, mentor emerging talent, and own product strategy for strategic in-house applications. This is an opportunity to make lasting technical impact while growing leaders and establishing best practices that define RBC's technology future.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Architect and lead full stack development of scalable, enterprise-grade applications using modern frameworks and containerized environments (OpenShift/Kubernetes)
  • Design and optimize RESTful APIs, MCP servers, and AI agent implementations that automate complex business processes
  • Lead product strategy and roadmap for in-house applications, collaborating with stakeholders to define priorities and success metrics
  • Lead observability-as-code initiatives, implementing infrastructure-as-code practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Design and manage data pipelines ensuring reliable ingestion, transformation, and delivery for KPI and metric reporting
  • Champion code quality and security through architectural guidance, code reviews, and best practice standards
  • Mentor and develop junior developers, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence across the team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must Have:

  • 7+ years of professional software development with proven expertise in RESTful API design, Python, React, SQL/No SQL Databases, Cloud, and DevOps.
  • Strong banking/financial services domain knowledge and demonstrated understanding of enterprise architecture principles
  • Hands-on proficiency with containerization platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes) and microservices architectures
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts for stakeholders
  • Proven leadership capability: mentoring ability, results-oriented mindset, and strong organizational/project management skills

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience building Model Context Protocol servers or developing AI agents and intelligent automation solutions
  • Advanced observability-as-code expertise (Terraform, Helm, infrastructure-as-code tools)
  • Product management experience or technical roadmap planning
  • Data engineering background (ETL/ELT tools, Airflow, Kafka, Spark)

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Flexible work/life balance options
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
