Adecco is currently building a talent pipeline for upcoming heavy equipment maintenance projects across British Columbia and is seeking experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians (HDETs) / Field Service Mobile Mechanics for both local and FIFO rotational opportunities. This position is ideal for skilled technicians with hands-on experience servicing heavy equipment in construction, mining, forestry, heavy industrial, or oil & gas environments. Successful candidates will perform maintenance and repairs both in-shop and in the field using a mobile service truck, ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime on critical projects.

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician / Field Service Mobile Mechanic, you will operate and maintain a variety of heavy machinery, provide preventative maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs while ensuring compliance with safety standards. You may also support fleet vehicles, mentor apprentices, and collaborate closely with supervisors and operations teams to meet project timelines.

  • Location: Multiple locations across BC including Tumbler Ridge, Prince George, Sparwood/Elk Valley, Fort St. John/Northeast BC, Kitimat/Northwest BC, Kamloops region, and Princeton/Interior mining zones

  • Schedule: Local or FIFO rotational opportunities

  • Job Type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain a mobile service truck to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs at project sites.

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor graders, articulated haul trucks, compactors, and other earthmoving equipment.

  • Conduct equipment inspections and troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and computerized systems.

  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components including hydraulic systems, engines, drivetrains, and undercarriage assemblies.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, including fluid checks, adjustments, and component servicing.

  • Test machinery following repairs to ensure performance meets OEM specifications.

  • Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance documentation.

  • Work closely with supervisors and operations teams to prioritize equipment servicing and support project timelines.

  • Support and mentor apprentice technicians when required.

  • Follow all workplace safety standards and site regulations.

  • Provide occasional support with fleet vehicles or heavy truck maintenance when required.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal or Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification (or eligibility).

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing heavy equipment.

  • Experience in mining, forestry, construction, infrastructure, or oil & gas environments strongly preferred.

  • Experience with CAT, Hitachi, John Deere, Komatsu, or similar equipment is an asset.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read and follow technical manuals and service procedures in English.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Employment Requirements:
