Overview

The role of Associate Scientist, Regulatory Affairs, is responsible for ensuring faultless regulatory compliance of ingredients, formulas and labelling for several PepsiCo Canada brands. The Regulatory Affairs team is critical to the innovation/renovation process from ideas all the way through to launch. You will have the opportunity to interact regularly with many other functions including but not limited to product development, marketing, supply chain, legal, and external vendors.

Total Compensation: $63,300 - $103,200


Responsibilities

The primary focus of this position is to conduct ingredient and formula compliance assessments, and substantiation of claims. This includes compliance reviews and the approval of raw material specifications,  creation of ingredient statements, nutrition facts tables, and substantiating claims, under the Canadian Food & Drug Regulations and CFIA Guide to Food Labelling and Advertising. The position will involve working with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders and managing project timelines.   

 

The position will require an in-depth understanding and application of the Canadian Food & Drug regulations to ensure formula compliance, accuracy of ingredient statements, nutrition facts tables, allergen declarations and claims. Technical savvy and expertise with product specification and life-cycle management systems are critical to success in this detail-oriented role. This role provides an excellent opportunity to expand existing regulatory expertise while honing technical skills working across a variety of brands and product categories.  


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, ideally in fields of Nutrition Science, Food Science, or equivalent as minimum 
  • Minimum 2 years of foods regulatory affairs experience is preferred, with strong knowledge of Canadian Food and Drug regulations 
  • Very high attention to detail and organization skills
  • Very strong computer systems skills; comfortable learning different systems 
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and conflicting deadlines, while making calculated risk assessments and working independently
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet aggressive timelines
  • Previous experience working in product specification, regulatory and/or product lifecycle management software preferred
