Engagement envers la diversité
An inclusive workplace is one which actively confronts and overcomes systemic barriers faced by different groups and enables everyone to realize their full potential. We truly value and celebrate our LGBT2SQIA+ community and we strive to advance equity and inclusion for all students, staff and faculty. Some of our initiatives include our Trans, Two-Spirit, and Gender Diversity Task Force, ongoing workshops and training opportunities, and events to celebrate and honour our LGBT2T2SQIA+ community throughout the entire year.
Vision d’avenir
UBC envisions a community in which human rights are respected and equity is embedded in all areas of academic, work and campus life. We strive to realize this vision by establishing employment and educational practices that respect the dignity of individuals and make it possible for everyone to live, work, and study in a positive and supportive environment, free from harmful behaviours such as bullying and harassment. Through this vision and collaborative action, we will further our commitment to excellence, equity and mutual respect, providing the best possible conditions for learning, researching, and working.
Creating an inclusive workplace only happens when we are thinking about equity and inclusion from the very beginning. Working closely with our employee affinity groups and committees such as our Trans, Two-Spirit and Gender Diversity Taskforce provides an opportunity to seek input, information and feedback early and often. In considering new policies or programs, institutions like UBC must start by understanding the needs of those who have been historically, persistently, and systemically marginalized in our community. Building programs or policies from the starting point of inclusion means a better experience for all of our faculty, staff and students. Organizations like Pride at Work offer helpful tools and resources in building #inclusiveUBC.
