What is the opportunity?

The Engineering team is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to build modern data platform across the organization. In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing of the above mentioned.  The role will coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished according on time.

What will you do?

• Code and document services in small to large projects.

• Integrate different technologies at various levels, leveraging REST, JDBC, JMS /MQ, Kafka, S3, relational and non-relational databases, SQL and other technologies.

• Write and maintain robust test suites using jUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber, and other testing libraries.

• Assist QA team with integration testing, performance testing and penetration testing.

• Assist the Production Support team with troubleshooting issues.

• Analyze business and system needs, exploring alternative options to recommend efficient designs and technology solutions, taking into account component reusability, data sharing and security.

• Contribute to improving how we work as a team.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• 5+ years of experience preferably but not limited to Java / Spring boot. Experience with modern Java development with the Spring framework and Apache Camel.

• Creating software for retrieving, parsing and processing structured and unstructured data.

• Defining and building scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics.

• Supporting project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms for very high availability and performance.

• Developing scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats.

• Knowledge of correlated technologies such as HTTP, REST, XML, JSON, JDBC, MS SQL, OAuth, MTLS and others.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience building software for the financial services industry – banking credit data

• Experience with GitHub Actions.

• Knowledge of other correlated technologies such as Debezium, Kafka, GraphQL, ELK Stack (Elastic Search / Logstash / Kibana).

• Experience with Cloud platforms and technologies (OpenShift, Kubernetes, S3 Object Storage).
