Sanitation Team Member 

Location: 90, 10th Ave., Hanover, ON 

Position Summary: 

The successful candidate will be part of the Hatchery sanitation team and will be responsible for the cleaning, sanitation of hatchery equipment, rooms and tray wash operations.

Shift Requirements:
  • Must be available Mondays, Tuesdays 5:30am to approx. 4:00 p.m, Wednesdays 5:00am to 12:00pm and Thursdays and Fridays 5:30am to approx. 4:00 p.m.
  • Must be able to work additional hours and during statutory holidays

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, floors, walls and ceilings of rooms, filters, ductwork, tops and tunnels
  • Complete start up, operation and shut down of tray washer
  • Wash hatch tray rollers and return to clean room for tray washer operator
  • Power hose any remaining dirt and debris from trays that need to be re-cleaned
  • Remove trays from tray washer, inspect, and stack on clean rollers when tray washer operator is performing other duties
  • Disinfect stacks of hatching trays
  • Updating sanitation logbook - daily
  • Support production team if required; Determining gender and quality of day-old chicks, chick deliveries, support held overs and US chick receiving when required
  • Other duties as assigned 
Required experience and education: 
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices 
  • Must understand and follow all Animal Welfare/PCP/Biosecurity procedures 
  • Proven ability in a current position (attendance included) 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Able to work in a wet/humid environment
  • Ability to use power hose and work at heights (ladders, tops of setters and hatchers) 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail 
  • Must be able to work in a variety of temperatures and humidity levels 
  • Proven team player
  • Must be capable of lifting/pushing 30-50 lbs repetitively 
  • Start and end times of work will vary depending on business and production needs
