Position Summary...

The Head of Industry is a dynamic sales leader responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic accounts within an identified category, as well as leading a team of sales professionals to deliver quarterly and annual goals for the category. Reporting to the Senior Director of Sales, this role is critical in delivering category-specific revenue goals, developing a high-performing category sales team, and driving overall growth in category for Walmart.

The Head of Industry is a dynamic sales leader responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic accounts within an identified category, as well as leading a team of sales professionals to deliver quarterly and annual goals for the category. Reporting to the Head of Sales, this role is critical in delivering category-specific revenue goals, developing a high-performing category sales team, and driving overall growth in category for Walmart.

1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients in the identified category. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the sector.

2. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business challenges, marketing objectives and success metrics. Shape annual joint strategies between Walmart and clients, leading cross-functional teams to drive client success.

3. Reach and strive to exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual individual and category quotas through effective presentation of Walmart Connect advertising products/solutions that will meet client marketing objectives, while contributing to team goals.

4. Responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams (eCommerce, Merchandising, Marketing) as well as external client stakeholders to identify opportunities to drive revenue and lead the pitching, negotiating and execution of program. The Head of Industry will also be responsible for educating stakeholders on the Walmart Connect offerings and unique selling propositions.

5. Conduct forward-thinking, data driven analyses, and consultative recommendations that align with customer goals, and present high-impact opportunities to clients.

6. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of top-performing salespeople. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the sales team.

7. Provide regular training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.

8. Attend industry events (may be virtual), network and stay well-informed of industry trends. Travel as required to meet with clients. Collaborate with colleagues onsite at Walmart offices.

9. The Head of Industry will lead a category strategic business unit, working directly with cross-functional internal leaders.

Qualifications

  • University degree
  • 10-15 years’ experience
