Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for an Electrical Designer with versatility to support our various clients needs. As a member of the Atlantic Region Power team based in Fredericton, NB, the candidate can be located at any of our office locations throughout Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will work with little supervision and direction, supported by a knowledgeable and experienced team, on average to large sized projects. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting projects of average to large complexity and size.
  • Support the overall electrical design; prioritizing quality while meeting deliverable deadlines, monitoring project scope, and adhering to project budgets.
  • Support and mentor junior designers.
  • Collaborate with project manager to provide status updates, identify additional scope, or request additional resources.
  • Coordinating with Clients, Contractors and Vendors.
  • Checking the work of others for accuracy and completeness.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A self-starter, skilled to navigate engineering design concerns and develop project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimates and project proposals.
  • Knowledge of utility protection and control systems using SEL relays.
  • Knowledge of one-line drawings, AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment); raceway layouts, cable schedules,
  • Familiar with medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design standards, codes and electrical engineering design principles for Instrument & Control systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microstation drafting software.

Education and Experience

  • Technical diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering & Design.
