About the role

We're looking for a bilingual Manager, Architecture, to join our growing team!

 

Your mandate as a Manager of Architecture will be to lead the application and solution architecture team for Intact’s primary insurance contract management platform. Your goal will be to ensure the implementation and evolution of application architecture practices and platform technologies while proactively working to increase the knowledge of your team. With your team, you will own the plateform’s architecture to ensure scalability, conformity and evolution throughout the different releases. Your weapons of choice will be your team, the other enterprise and solution architecture teams, and finally the software development teams who will bring your conclusions to life. Your reward will be the technological transformation of a large platform towards a modern, scalable and efficient architecture that will meet users' needs.

What you'll do here:

  • Develop application architecture and associated good practices.

  • Develop productive and engaged teams, fostering the development of personal and technical skills, as well as collaboration.

  • Collaborate with other managers to ensure that all initiatives are appropriately staffed, balancing the needs of the company with the experience and professional aspirations of each resource.

  • Collaborate with enterprise and solution architecture to ensure that the decisions made by application architecture are in line with the company’s directions and vision.

  • Ensure that our company standards are met for software engineering, architecture and quality.

  • Continually evolve development practices, tools and processes to increase team autonomy and efficiency, and ensure they can meet Intact’s goals.

  • Cultivate change and initiate innovation.

  • Understand business needs and ensure technology can meet the viability of products.

  • Master all the facets of software development, understand how all the components interact and can impact the performance and the quality of delivered products.

  • Remain on the lookout for market opportunities and question the status quo.

  • Communicate the technology vision to team members and ensure governance.

  • Master Agile/Scrum development and ensure that processes and tools are well adapted.

            

What you bring to the table:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Software Engineering or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • More than 10 years of experience designing and developing software applications.

  • Solid management track record including at least 2 years managing and coordinating senior technical staff and Application Architects.

  • Strong experience delivering software engineering products using the Agile/Scrum approach.

  • Deep understanding of Web Java, Mobile, etc. application technologies.

  • Firm grasp of the different types of software architecture (Web, service-oriented, distributed, event-oriented, etc.).

  • Good knowledge of the various frontend and backend frameworks (Java frameworks).

  • Experience with application security best practices.

  • Passionate about creating software products and about software architecture and technological innovations.

  • Creative, curious and ingenious.

  • An agent of change, able to question the status quo.

  • An excellent communicator, able to explain your ideas to various stakeholders.

  • A visionary and have a good understanding of the challenges of the IT world.

  • Diplomatic, organized, proactive and a team player.

  • A servant leader who knows how to create an open and collaborative environment.

  • Comfortable working in a constantly evolving technological environment.

  • Bilingualism is mandatory (French and English) - Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
