What is the opportunity?
We are seeking summer interns across several Business Analyst roles (including but not limited to the following: Risk Management, Strategy and Product, Trade Operations, Operations Analyst, etc.) to join the RBC Wealth Management Team. Success in this role will require a highly organized, detail-oriented (accurate and thorough), excellent communicator who can effectively collaborate cross-teams, who is solutions-oriented and who thrives in a dynamic and changing environment. The ideal candidates will demonstrate initiative, excellent time management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
What will you do?
- Developing documents for IT applications, system specifications and test plans, according to existing standards and methodologies
- Translate business needs, processes and procedures into a workable approach, articulating on specific needs or requirements by helping develop materials to drive alignment with various stakeholders
- You will contribute to business development, operational & process efficiency, policy reviews, create and provide analytical insights and assist with change management and internal controls
- Work closely with internal departments such as Portfolio Management, Compliance, and IT, as well as external parties such as brokers, custodians, and clearing agents
- Use in-house applications to process trades and monitor settlement workflows. Leverage tools such as Eagle, Charles River, Bloomberg, and Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Working closely with business architects and other technology staff to deliver project results while implementing risk analysis and meeting required deliverable
- Support targeted ad hoc reviews through planning, execution, reporting, and analysis of high-risk issues, focusing on risks and root causes
- Assisting with the design and execution of regulatory programs, which include risk and control identification/assessment, change management, and operational risk reviews
- Work closely with teams to ensure materials are prepared and up to date for project updates, team presentations, etc.
- Help benchmark ideas against various competitors in the market, understanding trends that are driving consumer preferences
- Perform in-depth data analysis, examination, and reconciliation to flag discrepancies, start upstream inquiries, and prepare respective summaries
- Complete due diligence on existing and prospect clients to fully understand a client’s source of wealth, and identify red flags to determine if a client is within or outside of our risk appetite
- Assist in management of projects and initiatives for multiple stakeholders
- Assist in the automation of KRI data collection by collaborating with data owners to streamline the process
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with high attention to detail.
- Displays strong competencies in relationship management, collaboration, and time management
- Excellent written and oral communication skill
- Ability to think “big picture” while balancing smaller details
- Interest in operational risk management and regulatory compliance within the financial services industry
- Able to adapt to dynamic situations and can impact and influence outcomes
Nice to have:
- Experience leading small projects or small/medium enhancements
- Has successfully managed multiple small projects or initiatives simultaneously
- Some experience working on projects with information technology components
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
Please note:
In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:
- Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
- If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
