Summer 2026 Student Program: Customer Service
The Toronto Transit Commission is currently accepting applications for Summer 2026 temporary full-time employment. We offer a wide range of entry level and specialty positions in various locations throughout the City of Toronto. Most positions involve working in a unionized environment. Some positions may involve working outdoors, while others may require specific licenses, skillsets and/or work experience.
Eligibility
- To be considered for summer student employment, you must be:
- Available to work from May 4, 2026 to August 22 or August 28 2026 (depending on position); students are required to work for the full duration of the term,
- Legally authorized to work in Canada,
- A full-time student, enrolled in Winter 2026 academic term, at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution and must be returning to their studies the upcoming Fall 2026 term.

Positions
Our Customer Service category includes a variety of roles that pertain to front line and behind the scenes operational duties that TTC relies on to ensure our customers are well-informed, receive timely and appropriate solutions to any inquires, and ultimately have a smooth experience on their transit journey. Customer Service Agent
- Responsible for assisting passengers, provides information, ensures fare compliance, and helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment
- Responsible for delivering customer support in person, by phone, and via email.
Customer Service Centre Clerk
- Responsible for providing customer service support both in person and by phone, assisting customers
- Works collaboratively with a small team to ensure efficient handling of inquiries and accurate tracking.
Clerk, Operating
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks to support day-to-day operations
- Responsibilities include maintaining accurate attendance records for both unionized and non-unionized employees and ensuring timely, organized documentation.
Senior Clerk, Operating
- Responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient office operations
- Manages information flow, assists with payroll processing, supports ongoing projects, and maintains clear communication to ensure payroll and other administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time
Requirements
Each role has its unique requirements, but all roles include the general requirements listed below:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle inquiries professionally and direct any questions to appropriate contacts when and if necessary;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong attention to detail and ability to meet required deadlines;
- Basic computer proficiency, including navigating databases and spreadsheets and knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, practices and equipment;
- Excellent organizational skills to manage tasks and maintain accurate records;
- Proven ability to comprehend and execute both written and verbal instructions with precision;
- Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently during overnight hours;
- Ability to work closely with a small team to coordinate tasks, streamline operations, and ensure logistical processes run smoothly and effectively;
- Problem solving acumen with ability to understand complex issues and utilize TTC resources to provide the most appropriate solutions;
- Will be required to successfully complete TTC’s in-house training relevant to this position.
Shifts
The TTC operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Therefore, students must be flexible and willing to work shift work, as all of the positions available involve working various shifts (morning, afternoon, nights), which may include working weekends and holidays.
