The Team
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with and learn form a growing and inclusive team with high visibility within the bank. The project is critical to bank operations, compliance, success of trades, etc. Opportunity to learn new technologies such as Java, Spark and Kafka and help support various business.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Support project team including project managers, business analysts, developers, team leads and business partners to meet project and portfolio objectives.
- Facilitate scrum ceremonies by organizing and leading daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Ensuring that these meetings are productive and that team members are fully engaged.
- Support project resource onboarding on a timely basis. Track project resource allocation and utilization, ensuring that project teams are operating efficiently.
- Support program and portfolio financial forecasting and reporting. Attentive to details to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Create and maintain SharePoint and Confluence sites for team information sharing, communication, and portfolio documentation management.
- Manage release documentation, ensuring standards are met and facilitating timely stakeholder approvals within the documentation lifecycle.
- Identify and remove any impediments that hinder the team’s progress. Shield the team from external interruptions and distractions.
- Encourage open communication and collaboration within the team to facilitate conflict resolution and build a strong sense of team cohesion.
- Guide the team on how to use Agile practices. Support and mentor team members, helping them understand and apply Agile principles.
- Provide the application level II or level III support if the need arises.
- Draft and deliver status update decks and executive communications, ensuring timely, clear, and concise reporting on program progress, key milestones, risks and strategic decisions for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporated into day-to-day activities and decisions.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in complex IT projects.
- 3+ years’ experience in an agile environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Comfortable with analyzing data and provide results in a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years’ experience in creating executive update or presentation by PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated project management experience with a deep understanding of agile principles and practices.
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
- Self Motivated, strong attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence and Jira.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy in financial data analysis and financial reporting.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Banking experience; Familiar with bank’s project management framework and financial reporting processes.
- Experience with MS. Project
- CSM or equivalent Agile certification.
- PMP certification.
