We are looking for a Senior Engineer – CBM & NDE to support both condition – based monitoring engineering as well as provides Non Destructive Examination (NDE) Coordination.Key responsibilities include to oversee and coordinate NDE activities, ensure compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and project timelines. As well as review NDE reports to issue recommendations on remaining life, and repair scopes. An ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in NDE methods and CBM techniques, analytical skills for interpreting condition monitoring data, and experience in quality control and asset management within industries like manufacturing, oil and gas, or construction.
Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in mechanical / metallurgical engineering or equivalent technologist credentials and experience
Five or more years of industry experience, preferably in Oilsands, refinery or hydrocarbon processing facility
Possess skills in the use and application of GE-APM or other commercial strategy and RBI software. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
Well-developed critical thinking and collaboration skills, with an ability to apply logic and challenge assumptions while working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Strong analytical skills including analyzing statistical data, identify limits of analysis approaches, and the ability for trending and analysis to drive conclusions and recommendations
Knowledge of API 580/581, API 510, API 570, API 571, API 574, RCM2/3 is an asset
Registered, or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities:
Support all areas of Suncor's Fort Hill's site, i.e. fixed plants, mine and tailings to ensure safe
Review NDE and corrosion monitoring data and perform remaining life calculations, issue recommendations for repairs / replacement
Supervising and supporting contract NDE technicians, providing training on NDE procedures, safety protocols and equipment usage
Manage NDE headcount to meet schedule demand for everyday maintenance as well as for outages and turnarounds
Issues NCRs based on Suncor's QA IMS (Quality Assurance Integrity Management System) requirements and assists the business units in rectifying appropriate disposition for resolution
Reviews, interprets, and accepts relevant NDE reports for code compliance
Confirms NDE provider / vendor is certified appropriately and meets TAV (technical approved vendor list) requirement, if applicable
Conducts vendor performance management and provides recommendation for improvement in efficiency, cost and safety performance
Investigates innovative technologies and works on implementation plan, i.e. wireless monitoring, drones, robotics, etc.
Coordinates with Quality Assurance (QA) and Reliability Engineering team to ensure scopes are well-understood and findings are communicated for required follow-up.
Location and other key details:
This is a site-based role. You will work out of our Fort Hills Main Administration building.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
This role requires travel to Suncor’s Fort Hills site, designated flight hubs are Calgary or Edmonton or BIBO from Fort McMurray, AB.
