As one of the largest mining sites in Canada, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of departments including Mine Planning, Tailings Planning, Surveying or Data Analytics. You will have the opportunity to design, innovate and collaborate with engineers and operations in a diverse mining environment. Suncor has a vast student network where you’ll have the chance to meet fellow students from across Canada as part of our Fort McMurray Young Professionals Group (FMYP)!

Minimum Requirements:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Mining/Geological/Civil Engineering at an accredited postsecondary institution
Must be enrolled in an accredited academic institution and returning to school full time after the internship
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record may be required for certain roles
Responsibilities:
Utilize engineering software to create mine & tailings designs and maps
Support planning teams to issue mine & tailings plans to operations on a daily, weekly, or longer-term basis
Analyze dispatch data and produce various reports for operations stewardships
Support material balance activities in the mine & tailings of oil sand, & overburden
Field tours with engineering and operations personnel to monitor mine progression
Assist engineers with various design scopes of work for execution in mine & tailings operational areas
Work directly with surveyors, perform field surveys, and conduct data processing
Location & Other Key Details:
This is a 4, 8, or 12-month term commitment beginning in January 2025
Locations include Calgary, Fort McMurray (Mildred Lake, Aurora, Base Mine, and Fort Hills). Fort Hills is camp based, requiring Fly-in-Fly-Out of Calgary or Edmonton
Students who live and work in Fort McMurray are eligible for a cash allowance to address the cost of living and the remote challenges associated with the region
Relocation support will be provided if required
