Job Description:
The Manager, Group Benefits Privacy Controls and Governance is a key role in managing risk within the Health business. The successful candidate will represent Sun Life as the Privacy Officer for the CDCP Program and will partner with key stakeholders and partners across the business to oversee program compliance. Additionally, they will manage and support other privacy-related processes, issues and questions within the Group Benefits business.
What you will do:
Canadian Dental Care Program (CDCP)
Represent Sun Life as the Privacy Officer for the CDCP Program
Act as a central contact for all privacy, governance, and compliance oversight of the CDCP program within Sun Life.
Identify, track and assess internal or external changes that impact the privacy processes within the program; partner with stakeholders across operations and technology teams to implement modifications as needed
Monitor compliance of the CDCP program’s contractual obligations including privacy laws; this includes identifying, interpreting and supporting the implementation of any new or changed requirements
Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs): Partner with government representatives to complete PIAs and obtain the appropriate approvals for any changes that impact the CDCP program, and lead the annual PIA review process
Privacy Breaches: Provide oversight of the handling of CDCP program related privacy breaches. Complete all relevant reporting, tracking and monitoring of any confirmed or suspected breaches related to the CDCP program, and lead/support the resolution of any issues
Audits: Participate in the annual privacy audits with the government as well as the CDCP SOC2 audit process
Third Party Risk Management: Oversee relationships with third parties who handle personal data for the CDCP program, including contract reviews, due diligence, and partnership with Supplier Relationship Managers
Training: Develop, implement and maintain appropriate training for Sun Life employees on CDCP privacy practices and requirements
Group Benefits Privacy Controls and Governance
Draft or review privacy and governance-related content used during the sponsor sale process
Consult on and review privacy and governance-related clauses in sponsor agreements
Act as point of contact for privacy and governance questions during client audits and due diligence processes
Manage ongoing processes to maintain SOC2 certification
Act as central point of contact for privacy-related questions from teams supporting the Group Benefits business
Preferred skills:
Strong knowledge and understanding of the requirements and key responsibilities of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Privacy Act
Excellent understanding of the group benefits environment and of group dental products
Strong partnership and organizational navigation skills
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to summarize and present in a clear and concise manner to executive-level and external audiences
Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to think clearly and respond effectively under pressure
Self-starter, takes initiative and has a desire to probe and solution
Ability to work in ambiguous situations and with limited process definition or documentation
Ability to adapt to change and pivot quickly with changing priorities
Ability to manage through influence and collaborate to achieve goals
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
Reliability Status:
Must be able to obtain Reliability Status through the Government of Canada before a start date can be confirmed (includes a background check with fingerprinting by the RCMP).

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
