The Academic Resources Office of the SON promotes high-quality student learning experiences by adopting proactive, responsive, and fiscally responsible approaches to meet the instructional needs of our nursing education programs. To ensure that all educational needs in the SON are addressed, we develop a robust Part-Time Instructor and Part-Time Clinical Faculty base to complement our Full-Time Faculty in the Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Programs.

Job Summary
The Academic Resources Manager will identify academic resources and gaps and set deliverables across annual timelines during each academic cycle. Works with the Assistant Dean and team members to execute the vision of clinical placements for undergraduate and graduate programs to ensure a student-centered approach. This role supervises 1-2 team members.
Accountabilities:
Academic Resources Planning
- Lead the academic planning process to ensure appropriate academic resources are in place each term for the effective delivery of the SON’s undergraduate, graduate, diploma, and certificate programs.
- Collaborate with Assistant Deans, Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing Programs, and Executive Director to determine teaching needs in the school and identify, recruit and support onboarding of instructors, and teaching assistants.
- During the hiring process, ensure Part-Time Instructors have the specialized knowledge and experience for teaching (i.e., clinical, theoretical).
- Oversee and contribute to the execution of teaching contracts, budgets, teaching contact hours and Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) Database data, aligning with collective agreements, where appropriate.
- Provide annual reports and SON communication (e.g., budgets, financial analyses, projections).
- Identify, anticipate, and analyze trends in supply and demand for nursing instruction, and recommend strategies to strengthen and sustain the SON’s ability to recruit and retain appropriate qualified Part-Time Instructors, and Teaching Assistants.
Clinical Placement Management
- In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate and team, oversee the Clinical Placement strategy and ensure accredited curriculum placement requirements are met in the placement operations.
- Oversee the evaluation of placements in collaboration with the educational program teams.
- Oversee the maintenance of the placement database, use of HSPNet, and communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Review policies and procedure from various clinical sites that impact the program and determine with the placement coordinator an appropriate course of action.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience. 1-2 years in a health care setting required.
Relevant areas of experience include:
- Managing schedules or assigning work in a health care setting.
- Experience leading professional teams (health professional or academic teams preferred).
- Experience with nursing and interprofessional teams.
- Experience with hiring or recruitment functions.
- Experience with health sciences educational programs preferred.
- HSPNet experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of undergraduate nursing education and experience with undergraduate collaborative educational models is an asset.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills. Ability to effectively coach and support teams in their development.

- Knowledge of health care and education programs.
