What you’ll be doing:
- Provide direct supervision and leadership to security, switchboard staff and external facilities services contractors
- Manage scheduling for 24/7 security and switchboard coverage and ensure required drivers’ and security licenses are current at all times
- Lead investigations of unusual occurrences, review related reports and escalate as appropriate
- Administer the Parking Policy
- Guide the department to meet goals and objectives related to service delivery excellence
- Lead the facility waste management program ensuring cost control, audits, adherence to regulations, packaging, handling, transfer, disposal and management of documentation and manifests
- Participate in Hospital committees such as Joint Health & Safety Committee, Emergency Code Review Team, Infection Prevention and Control, Green Team and Outbreak Management
- Prepare and present quarterly reports for Quality Management Forum
- Act as fire prevention and fire safety authority
- Establish and manage departmental labour and supply budgets
- Maintain a positive relationship with union, respond to First Step Grievances and address issues before they become grievances, whenever possibly
What we’re looking for:
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related field
- 5 years’ experience in property management of a health care (preferred) or commercial facility
- Law & Security, fire safety and/or risk management experience preferred
- Demonstrated success managing in a unionized environment
- Working knowledge of WSIB
- Knowledge and strong understanding of the Health and Safety Act and application in the workplace
- Collaborative approach with strong organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement business processes and create efficiencies
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to improve processes and general service operations
