The Senior Manager, Credit Card Analytics responsible for leading a team of analytics professionals in conducting analyses and making fact-based recommendations across the Retail Payment & Unsecured Lending portfolios. The incumbent will deliver strategic and tactical knowledge to facilitate the execution of business strategies to enable profitable growth of Unsecured Lending customer base, increase customer engagement and optimize revenue margins for the business. This role works with multiple stakeholders and partners within and outside Scotiabank to develop optimal strategies based on excellent analytical, database marketing, people management, communication, and relationship management skills.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with Retail Payment & Unsecured Lending team to profitably grow customer base. Proactively provide strategic analyses that will assist the business to optimize new & existing accounts and product mix from various channels. Grow unsecured lending customer base within multiple segments of Scotiabank customers and enhance opportunity to acquire non-Scotiabank customers.
- Lead the data science initiatives to optimize pricing and targeting strategies to drive acquisition & retention of revolving credit balances. This role works closely with Retail Payment & Unsecured Lending team, Global Risk Management, Finance, Treasury, Customer Growth team and Channel partners to recommend optimal pricing and targeting strategies to grow unsecured credit portfolio.
- Work closely with marketing team to develop analytical and segmentation strategies that enhance unsecured credit customer engagement initiatives while optimizing budgets & revenue margins.
- Collaborate with Retail Marketing and Customer Decisioning teams to implement and fulfill campaigns while ensuring seamless customer experience.
- Engage in high impact technology projects to provide subject matter expertise with respect to data architecture, systems integration, and application design. Ensure integration of new advanced analytical tools into the analytical infrastructure.
- Evaluate new campaign ideas based on business opportunities and revenue growth; provide initial sizing and develop business case. Provide go/no go recommendation by examining overall P&L impact to the bank.
Collaborate with Campaign Design, Products and Retail Marketing teams to support optimal acquisition and customer migration initiatives driven through centralized campaign execution engine.
Work closely with segmentation/modeling experts within or outside Scotiabank to create new and effective ways of targeting customers to maximize efficiency of acquisition campaign strategies.
Effectively manage and prioritize multiple business initiatives, projects, and ad-hoc analyses with business stakeholders and/or external partners/consultants.
Lead the creation of ongoing measurement of acquisition/engagement campaign strategies relative to the pro-forma/plan. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to business stakeholders on an ongoing basis to maximize business results and enable the creation of an ongoing learning loop.
Continuously acquire and enhance knowledge of business/product strategies, competitive practices, market insights and other policies, technical processes, and advanced analytical tools/methodologies to best provide business solutions to all key constituents
Identification of portfolio trends and key statistics using advanced analytics; Effective and timely communication of strategic and operational results to the business teams
Providing analytical support and profit insights on a regular and ad-hoc basis within Retail Canadian Banking focusing towards driving business growth and profits
Provide business support to all areas of Retail Payment & Unsecured Lending team including Business development, Product, Acquisition and Analytics. Work with Finance for business case development and to report results to Senior Management as well as provide outlook/projection
Leverage internal/external analytics tools as well current macroeconomic & industry trend to evaluate its impact on customer & profitability of the bank; keep senior management abreast with these insights and recommendation to mitigate those risks
Work closely with Global Risk Management team to understand intrinsic & external risk factors to the unsecured lending portfolios; develop risk management strategies to optimize risk and revenue
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- In-depth analytics experience and solid business acumen are required. Extensive marketing & campaign analytics and decision support experience is strongly preferred along with a comprehensive understanding of portfolio optimization and financial P&L levers.
- Previous experience of leading/coaching the team is must; Proactive, self-directed, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Understand business needs and develop tailored solutions. Act as the main point of contact for business stakeholders’ inquiries and issues. Previous experience in consulting firm is an asset.
- The incumbent must have a good knowledge of the bank’s lending products, including Credit cards & Line of Credits, and should have familiarity with the Bank’s Risk Management activities.
- Proficiency utilizing a variety of analytical tools including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Big Data, Python, R, SAS, SQL and Excel and a solid knowledge and understanding of advanced analytical concepts and methodologies.
- A proven ability to extract and interpret data; transform it into meaningful and actionable business insights effectively and accurately.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present and translate highly technical concepts to a wide audience.
- A strong sense of urgency and a proven ability to understand, and effectively assess multiple, ongoing requests.
- Strong prioritizing, planning, analytical, presentation, project management, people management and relationship building skills
- Proven track record of success in maintaining, leading and motivating a productive team of analytics professionals.
- Displays a high level of analytical maturity and sophistication, financial acumen and a solid understanding of profit drivers, KPIs and other factors that will contribute to successful growth initiatives.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or Statistics
- MBA (Finance or Marketing)/CFA/FRM or Master in Analytics - preferred
