This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

In the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and Decision Support position, you will lead and oversee company wide annual budgeting processes including consolidation, analysis of budget, implications and preparation of board package, as well as managing the financial analysis of development project business plans, annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, including pro-forma of building net operating income, debt capacity, proposal of financial plan such as bridge and long term debt.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, you will establish the portfolio financial plan for the company specifically addressing cash flow shortfalls and identifying potential financing plan and assessing risk analysis for financial sustainability of financial plan alternatives. You will also lead and direct the development and implementation of special projects and initiatives.
What you'll do
Management of annual budgeting process
- Oversee consolidation and development of consolidation framework of company-wide cost centres including operating units, departments, development subsidiaries
- Prepare annual budget presentation package for board members, highlighting material assumptions and trend of company’s operating environment
- Present, collaborate and negotiate with the City of Toronto Stakeholders to develop the annual budget
- Identifies areas of improvement, opportunity for digitalization and other process modernization initiatives
Oversees financial implications of Project Plans
- Working closely with functional leaders, identifies and highlights financial risks associated with projects
- Prepares reports and proposes financing plan to address potential cash shortfalls
- Manages the financial analysis of development projects including annual budget and quarterly reforecasts, variance analysis against actual results, pro-forma of building operating revenue and expenditure and debt capacit
Corporate and portfolio financial planning
- Working closely with CFO, identify areas and properties of financial deficiencies and proposes remediation plan
Quarterly financial performance report
- Manage quarterly analysis and reporting to board of actual results against budget, highlighting explanation for material variances
Ad-hoc financial analysis
- Provide valuable financial analysis on results using short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets and similar financial analysis, to provide insight on trends and enable forward looking decisions.
- Provide financial analysis support for ad-hoc requests from CFO
What you'll need
- 7-10 years of progressive/management experience with a focus on corporate financial analysis.
- 10+ years in senior management role with corporate accounting and financial analysis in complex real estate organization (250+ staff) with experience in managing large and complex budgets preferred
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field; MBA preferred
- CPA Accounting Designation
- Knowledge of Yardi Accounting System including automated budgeting forecasting and reporting modules/applications would be preferred
- Strong experience and knowledge in documenting, establishing and maintaining sound financial internal controls
- Experience leading a team of competent Financial Analysts with the proven experience in recognizing the importance of building consensus among multi-level stakeholders within the organization to achieve results.
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills in order to build effective business partnerships with leaders across the organization and staff of other teams.
- Possesses sound business judgment to make decisions and follow through on delivering results with a sense of organizational agility.
- Demonstrated experience to drive accounting and budget system process improvements (i.e. in the field of digitization or transformation)
- Comfortable and thrives in working within in a highly complex and fast paced work environment.
