As Director of Product, Cloud and Platform Engineering, you will lead and inspire the Technical Product Management team to empower our developers and drive innovation. You will define the strategic direction for Cloud and Platform Engineering, focusing on simplifying operations and enhancing capabilities. Your deep technical expertise and product management acumen will be instrumental in ensuring our technology solutions meet the evolving needs of our development community, while adhering to all regulatory and internal requirements.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Establish close relationships with supporting teams across Scotiabank, acting as a liaison for Technology Product Managers. Facilitate coordination between product design, engineering, and architecture teams.
Lead Product Management for Cloud & Platform Engineering, overseeing a team of Senior Technology Product Managers. Foster a disciplined approach to Technology Product Management, implementing and rolling out best practices. Coordinate across technology product managers to ensure consistency and integration of Technology Products within the Cloud Platform.
Lead the definition of a multi-year vision, strategy, and cross-platform roadmap for the Cloud Platform within Cloud and Platform Engineering. Own and maintain the overall vision and roadmap across cloud computing areas, including foundation, infrastructure as code, serverless computing, containers, virtual machines, databases, storage, development patterns, DevSecOps, API, and events. Leverage a data-driven approach to prioritization and execution.
Manage and mentor Senior Technical Product Managers and Technical Product Managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Coach team members to improve performance and assist them in their career paths.
Liaison with supporting teams across Scotiabank that Technology Product Managers work with frequently (e.g., Design, Finance, Programs).
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in product management, with at least 5 years focusing on cloud technologies and platforms.
Proven track record of leading and delivering complex, enterprise-scale cloud and platform engineering initiatives.
Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and services (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
Strong knowledge of modern software development methodologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code principles.
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor high-performing product management teams.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Certifications in relevant cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.
