York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS)
York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. Children’s Aid Societies are regulated by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and governed by the Ontario Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA). We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected from within the community.
Programs and services are developed in response to the needs of children, youth, and families in our community. We strive to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth in the community, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. We partner with parents, caregivers and community to provide a safe environment for children and youth, through equitable, culturally aligned services.

Commitment to Diversity
YRCAS will build, foster, and sustain an organizational culture, and service that values difference. We will nurture and foster an equitable and inclusive workplace that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of staff, resource parents, volunteers, children, youth, families, and our communities. York Region Children’s Aid Society will cultivate a workplace that reflects the communities we serve, and where staff, volunteers, and resource caregivers are empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work. We believe every member of the organization enriches and contributes to a broad range of ways of understanding, engaging, and supporting service delivery that is responsive to the unique, and intersecting experiences of diverse and equity-seeking communities. For more information about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at York Region Children’s Aid Society, please visit the following link: https://www.yorkcas.org/diversity-equity-inclusion/
Vision for the Future
- York Region Children’s Aid Society will be an organization that nurtures and fosters a fair, accessible, and inclusive workplace, and service, that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of staff, resource parents, volunteers, children, youth, families, and our communities. YRCAS will be a workplace that reflects the communities we serve, and where staff, volunteers, and resource caregivers are empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work.
- At YRCAS, we all hold responsibility for integrating equitable practices and outcomes, and for ensuring that the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion are incorporated into everything that we do. We will provide equitable and inclusive services that are focused on the safety and well-being of children and youth within their individual family, community, and unique lived experience, and will take decisive and intentional actions in disrupting the oppressive structures, processes, and practices that have led to the underrepresentation of equity-deserving groups in our workplace, and the over-representation of Indigenous, Black, and 2SLGBTQ+ children, youth and families involved in child welfare. We will also ensure that the diversity of our workforce is present at every level of the organization and in every service area, and are committed to having a workforce that is reflective of the diversity of the Region of York.
- At YRCAS, we are and will forever strive to be a diverse people, and believe that every voice deserves an opportunity to be heard.
