Main Purpose and Function
The Financial Services Transformation Lead is performance driven, results-orientated and future focused on identifying opportunities, prioritization and planning, and building out plans for next phases of business transformation. The Transformation Lead will identify and drive strategic business transformative initiatives within Financial Services team and is responsible for the successful implementation and go-live of any key business transformational process and SAP system changes This role will drive efficiencies through process improvement and implementation of systems-based approaches focussing on processes and technology.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the development of business and financial transformation plan by providing recommendations based upon current state analysis performed with a view to continuously improve business processes.
- Particular focus on identifying opportunities in SAP S4/Hana to optimize the functionalities and features available in financial modules and the integration with other modules.
- Completes complex projects as assigned, with limited levels of supervisory direction and support by leading cross functional teams in the application of business process and system improvement, project and change management tools to solve varied and complex organizational issues. Through careful data analysis, identify implications and make recommendations for changes in processes and systems.
- Provide project management oversight in planning the project team’s work, facilitates team meetings with the process owners, and ensure that team decisions are made in a timely manner to meet project timeline expectations.
- Partners with relevant departments to deliver successful solutions to meet corporate wide strategies and requirements.
- Provides leadership in problem solving efforts on key projects to achieve operational goals and objectives.
- Works with senior management to proactively identify change and transition needs on a short-term and long-term priority basis; directs execution of change management strategies including:
- Communication of activities to ensure staff are adequately notified of pending changes
- Participation in training program development and implementation on project deliverables
- Liaising with stakeholder groups to ensure adequate preparations are made for pending changes
- Works with senior management to proactively identify change and transition needs on a short-term and long-term priority basis; directs execution of change management strategies including:
- Prepares and conducts presentations to, and/or facilitate decision-making for Department Management teams, Division/Branch Heads, Project Steering Committees, and Business Unit Managers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A related bachelor’s degree (i.e., Commerce, Business/Public Administration, Public Policy or Economics).
- Extensive experience in process documentation, business process reviews, and re-engineering techniques. Training, experience and knowledge in quality improvement tools, techniques, and methodologies such as Lean and/or Six Sigma.
- Possesses SAP S4/HANA Subject Matter Expert (SME) experience in one or more functional/module area, specifically Financial Accounting and Controlling (FI/CO).
- Training or experience in project management methodologies preferably consistent with those provided by PMI (Project Management Institute)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Detailed knowledge of business practices in public sector or large private organizations.
- A thorough understanding of organization theory and design.
- High degree of analysis using professional thinking.
- Experienced with SAP S4/HANA and other emerging technologies such as RPA that support accounting, financial reporting, and analytical functions to deliver process efficiencies.
- Superior pragmatic research and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and presentation skills, across all levels of the organization.
- The ability to think innovatively, solve complex problems and present solutions in clear and compelling terms.
- Demonstrated ability to work with technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to manage change and assist people with adapting to change.
- Ability to analyze and anticipate implications of system changes on work processes and procedures.
- Ability to solve complex problems and build relationships.
- Ability to build constructive and effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, large workloads and multi-task effectively.
- High level of proficiency with MS Office applications
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
