The Material Handling group of Fluor’s Mining and Metals business line is involved in all aspects of design, mechanical engineering, and construction of large scale belt conveyors, crushing and screening stations, bulk material storage and reclaim solutions, rail loading and unloading facilities. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced mechanical engineers and designers and be responsible for creation and upkeep of various engineering documents to support our clients’ Projects. This position will require excellent knowledge of engineering basics and strong mechanical acumen to develop engineering plans, documents, and lists. Responsibilities include:
• Create equipment specifications and datasheets for medium complexity equipment
• Develop and upkeep mechanical equipment list database
• Perform calculations related to stockpile and bin geometries and equipment power draws
• Review vendor equipment documents and drawings for compliance and solve problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity
• Support the lead Material Handling engineer with administration of discipline team and interface with other discipline groups such as structural, electrical, and civil
• Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as company and department practices and procedures
• Plan, organize, and carry out assignments in a timely manner
Basic Job Requirements:
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study
• Registered British Columbia EIT (engineer in training) or potential to be registered as an EIT
• Authorized to work in the country where the position is located
• Able to work in the office where the role is to be carried out
• Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English, oftentimes with video or audio conferencing to audiences in remote locations
• Passion to build and eagerness to learn and contribute in a team environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft operating system environment and Excel
