OMNI News is seeking a Full-time Camera/Editor to help support our multilingual and multicultural news business. This position will require on-premisis and field editing on Grass Valley products and applications. Field camera work will also be required throughout the day as assigned.
What you will do...
Non-linear editing of broadcast content using Grass Valley Edius and associated supporting software.
Work within a 5.1 audio environment
May be required to work with outside clients within the Rogers group of companies
Other duties as assigned
Weekend and shift work required
Assemble and edit on premises daily news content
Prepares, aligns, sets up, carries, and operates a portable electronic camera, lighting equipment, and recording unit for both pre-recorded and live to air field reports
Consults with Producers, Reporters, Assignment Editors, and other Newsroom staff to provide creative input to the production
Works quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor in news coverage
Works in conjunction with mobile transmission equipment as required
Drives company vehicle to and from assignments
Finds solutions to technical or other practical problems (for an outside broadcast, for example, the natural light conditions need to be taken into account when setting up shots)
Maintains vehicle and equipment
Demonstrates a good awareness of health and safety issues
