Summer 2025 Student Program: Maintenance
The Toronto Transit Commission is currently accepting applications for Summer 2025 full-time employment. We offer a wide range of entry level and specialty positions in various locations throughout the City of Toronto. Most positions involve working in a unionized environment. Some positions may involve working outdoors, while others may require specific licenses, skillsets and/or work experience.
Eligibility
To be considered for summer student employment, you must be:
- Availability to throughout May 5, 2025 to August 22, 2025; students are required to work for the full duration of the term,
- Eligible to work in Canada,
- A full-time student, enrolled in Winter 2025 academic term, at a registered Canadian post-secondary institution.

The Toronto Transit Commission will conduct education, work, security and reference checks which will be used for employment assessment purposes only. Employment is conditional upon satisfactory reference checks, a criminal record search, and completion of pre-placement health assessment related to the position. If the position is designated Safety-Sensitive under the TTC’s Fitness for Duty Policy, you will be required to pass a medical and/or drug test as part of the certification process. All checks & tests will be administrated by our recruitment team upon onboarding.

Our Maintenance category includes a variety of roles that play a key role in keeping all TTC locations, equipment and assets clean, safe for use and well-maintained to ensure safety, efficiency for TTC workers and an excellent customer experience. Requirements
Each role has its unique requirements, but all roles include the general requirements listed below:
- Ability to efficiently use a variety of cleaning methods and equipment to maintain cleanliness and safety of TTC locations, equipment and other assets
- Ability to work in dirty, dusty, noisy, wet conditions, and exhaust fumes
- Best procedures, safety and security practices training will be provided
- Safety equipment and materials will be provided (exception of safety footwear, which will be requested from student to obtain)
- Customer service skills: ability to handle customer inquiries, provide solutions and direct any questions to appropriate contacts when and if necessary
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and good organizational skills with the ability to meet required deadlines
- Problem Solving: understanding the issues at hand and using TTC resources to provide the most appropriate solutions
- Will be required to successfully complete TTC’s in-house training relevant to this position.
Shifts
The TTC operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Therefore, students must be flexible and willing to work shift work, as all of the positions available involve working various shifts (morning, afternoon, nights), which may include working weekends and holidays.
