A day in the life:

• You'll be using your expertise to complete field inspection and testing, write technical field reports, collaborate with our many counterparts in all our different disciplines at WSP and provide service and expertise to clients on various projects;
• You’ll be expected to travel throughout northern Ontario providing geotechnical review at various mining and infrastructure projects;
• You will perform materials testing duties on active construction sites completing compaction testing using a nuclear densometer and concrete testing (air, slump and cylinder casting).
• Your responsibilities may include construction supervision and project inspection in order to confirm project specifications are being met.
• This position will also involve laboratory testing such as grain size distribution, hydrometer analysis, Atterberg limits, specific gravity and compressive strength determination.
• Training including CNSC and CCIL soils / concrete will be provided along with WHIMIS and First Aid.
• You’ll work closely with other technicians and engineers acquiring valuable experience to allow you to increase your role and responsibility on various projects;

What you'll bring to WSP ...

• The successful candidate will have completed a college geotechnical or civil program as a minimum or equivalent education or experience in geotechnical, civil technology or similar
• You enjoy fieldwork, travel and like to work autonomously – think the opposite of your standard 9-5 desk job!
• Extended travel to mining camps should be anticipated along with weekend work, with early morning / late evening schedules.
• You’ve got access to a vehicle, a clean Driver’s Abstract, and you know your way around the MS Office suite of products;
