SUMMARY
The Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund (TLIF) Grant Project Student Assistant provides support for a TLIF project. Responsibilities include conducting research, such as performing literature reviews, developing questionnaires, and tabulating reports. The assistant is also expected to prepare reports, create presentation materials, work with educational media, and maintain websites and social media platforms. Additionally, the student assistant is responsible for communicating, coordinating, and promoting project activities among key stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct literature reviews and create annotated bibliographies of key findings
- Perform library and online research as required (e.g., gathering statistics, finding openly licensed images, etc.)
- Assist in developing questionnaires for data collection and field interviews
- Conduct in-person and online interviews, facilitate focus groups, and/or assist with interviews related to the grant project research
- Tabulate interview results, analyze data, and develop reports for the project team's review
- Create presentation materials and infographics, following appropriate attribution, citation, and accessibility guidelines
- Produce educational media using platforms such as Kaltura or Camtasia
- Build and maintain content specific to the grant project on platforms like Moodle, WordPress, and PebblePad
- Develop and distribute communication materials, and build a social media presence as requested to support the grant project
- Communicate and coordinate tasks among key parties essential to the project
- Provide support to fellow learners as directed by the TLIF project lead
QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to students with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Successfully completed a Research Methods course (preferably Qualitative Research Methods) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of qualitative research methodology, ideally supported by prior coursework or training
- Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to take initiative to accomplish tasks within specified timeframes
- Familiar with conducting literature reviews and research using KPU library databases
- Experienced with technology platforms such as Moodle, Pressbooks, WordPress, Kaltura, and/or Pebble Pad
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiar with using social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
*Salary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
- Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
- One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
- With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
