What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager – Standards, the Standards Engineer (Standards Architect if incumbent is an Architect) is responsible for the production, coordination and maintenance of Design Standards for TTC facilities and systems required for capital projects by the Engineering, Construction & Expansion (ECE) Group. This includes analyzing Design Standard revision and variance requests, identifying requirements of production, implementing production, coordinating acceptance, and ensuring all regulatory/safety/technical/business requirements are met.
The incumbent demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. What Skills Do You Bring?
• Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and architectural design disciplines coordination and their interrelationships, especially as related to a transit environment.
• Sound technical knowledge in construction specification development and application, and engineering/architectural design practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes, standards and statutes.
• Strong service orientation as well as sound judgement and excellent organization skills.
• Sound analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives.
What Qualifications Do You Bring?
• Completion of a university degree in a related discipline (e.g. Mechanical/Electrical/Structural/Civil Engineering, Architectural), along with relevant experience in specialized design of institutional, commercial, transportation and industrial construction, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
• Extensive design experience related to TTC infrastructure, interdisciplinary coordination and in specification development.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer or Architect in the Province of Ontario.
• Strong proven knowledge in the use of relevant office technology, software and applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); proficient in the use of Access; ability to design and develop database systems.
