What you’ll do
The Specialist, Corporate Communications is responsible for supporting the day-to-day execution of strategic communications activities, such as issues management, materials development, media monitoring and reporting. Working in a fast-paced environment on multiple simultaneous initiatives, the Corporate Communications Specialist must possess experience in media relations and supporting communication requirements in a project management environment.
Help build and enhance CTC’s corporate reputation among key audiences, business community and media, consumer media and third-party organizations
Support issues management activities to protect and maintain brand reputation
Support development of quarterly and annual investor materials for CTC and CT REIT and assist the Investor Relations team as required
Monitor/track media coverage and develop results reports, including the ability to review numerous articles and distill the information into a few key points
Write and develop public-facing materials that reinforce CTC’s strategic objectives and strengthen the brand
Support the update and maintenance of CTC and CT REIT’s corporate website content
Respond quickly to internal and external requests and provide required materials or information
Write and develop research reports and briefs to keep the team informed about current issues related to the retail industry
Research and stay current on emerging trends, best practices and opportunities in the field of communications
Act as a communication team player on various projects, contributing to the development of effective integrated communication plans
Oversee Corporate Archives, including maintaining log, fielding requests and compiling photos and artifacts as required
Support corporate and banner events as needed
Support with administration tasks as needed, such as invoices and newspaper subscriptions
Send out CTC’s morning media monitoring coverage reports as needed
What you bring
2-3 years of progressive experience in the communication field; agency experience preferred
Post-secondary education in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related degree/diploma
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities, prioritize and deliver programs and tactics on time in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Excellent spoken and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience working directly with media
Strong relationship builder who is a fast learner and able to think quickly on their feet
Demonstrated track record in working with others and ability to interact effectively with senior management
Creative, professional, self-motivated and constantly looking to implement best practices in all areas of the communications field
Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends

We value flexibility. We have adopted a hybrid work model whereby employees use a combination of working in office and virtually in service of outcomes. Currently, Corporate Communications employees are required to work in the office two times per week and may be subject to change based on company needs.
