Sustainable investment is an integral part of our investment approach, helping us mitigate risk, uncover opportunities to enhance long-term performance, and bring our edge. Our Sustainability and Climate Innovation (SCI) group spearheads our efforts. The group helps advance our sustainability and climate strategy, oversight, capabilities, and practices; and deeply collaborates with the investment teams across public and private markets asset classes to develop our collective insight, integrate factors related to sustainability throughout our investment processes, and deliver public reporting to stakeholders. We’re seeking a Senior Analyst, Sustainability to play an active role in the activities of the SCI group. As a valued member of the SCI group, you will report to the Senior Manager, Sustainability & Climate Innovation. ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As Senior Analyst, Sustainability, you will join the SCI group within the Office of our Chief Investment Officer. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of crucial tasks to advance our commitment to sustainable investment. In your role, you will:
Perform in-depth research and analysis on sustainability-related factors (risks and opportunities) to support the integration thereof in the investment and monitoring activities of PSP Investments across private markets asset classes, with an emphasis on private equity and credit investments
Actively participate to PSP’s sustainability-related assessment framework applicable to its external managers and general partners, in alignment with PSP Investments’ long-term investment mandate
Support engagements on an ongoing basis with PSP’s portfolio companies, general partners and internal teams
In collaboration with asset classes, network with industry experts who can work with companies and partners on embedding sustainability practices into companies
Support asset classes to identify, quantify and realize sustainability value creation opportunities within portfolio
In collaboration with SCI group’s climate expert, support the definition and implementation of transition plans for portfolio companies
Actively participate to the development and maintenance of tools to ensure that sustainability-related considerations are adequately integrated in the investment and monitoring activities of PSP Investments across asset classes
Support the development and enhancement of sustainability and climate-related policies and internal procedures
Build strong working relationships with PSP’s Private Equity and Credit Investments asset classes
Conduct primary research, analysis and presentations on sustainability matters and best practices for institutional investors
Actively participate in collaborative and leadership initiatives with industry peers; and
Collaborate on PSP’s disclosure and reporting activities on sustainability matters both internally and externally
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Robust educational foundation, degrees preferred (e.g., bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as sustainability, climate, finance, business administration, or a related discipline). Additional sustainability-related certifications are assets
Demonstrated expertise through two (2) to four (4) years of relevant sustainability-related experience, including climate, in the sustainable investing, investment ownership or management industry, with a focus on private equity and credit investments
Demonstrated interest in sustainable investing principles and practices, including knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and reporting standards related to sustainable investing
Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders (internally and externally) at all levels
Business acumen, blending both qualitative and quantitative analysis to solve complex business problems is an asset
Demonstrated proficiency in technology and data analytics
A results-oriented and goal-driven mindset, with a commitment to achieving quantifiable outcomes
Bilingualism: English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
