About the role
We are looking for a Manager of Software Development, Technical Product, to join our growing team!
Responsibilities:
- Develop productive and engaged teams by fostering the development of personal and technical skills, as well as collaboration.
- Build, lead, and coordinate, in a direct and/or indirect supervisory mode, the activities of multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers (PM), Coordinators, Scrum Masters, and Project Controllers.
- Prioritize the technical product backlog and projects based on business value, technical feasibility, and stakeholder feedback.
- Consolidate technical product backlogs to maintain dashboards and assist management in decision-making regarding strategies and priorities.
- Manage projects by understanding the strategies, priorities, and issues of the business partner, leading risk management, and maintaining dashboards.
- Develop and maintain an updated strategic demand plan by identifying deliverables and dependencies, estimating duration and associated costs, and participating in the assignment of resources to activities.
- Act as the primary point of contact between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder and senior management relationships and expectations, and maintain good relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Promote and implement best practices in software development and product management.
- Stay updated on new technologies and challenge the status quo. Evolve our agile practices based on lessons learned throughout the full development cycle.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to the development team, understand the technical architecture and infrastructure of the product.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Software Engineering or any combination of education and equivalent experience.
- Experience in leading development initiatives in the IT field.
- Strong experience of web application technologies (Java, JavaScript, Angular, Application Frameworks, CSS, HTML, REST, JSON), object-oriented development, software debugging, security, observability, resilience, and performance.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies.
- Experience in continuous delivery management and change and transformation management.
- Project management skills: planning, budget and schedule management, scope management, risk management, timely decision-making.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of personal insurance (an asset).
- Bilingual (French and English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
- No work experience in Canada required, but must have authorization to work in Canada.
