What you’ll do
- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, including upgrades, patches, and user roles/security permissions.
- Lead all aspects of database migrations (e.g., Oracle/other RDBMS to PostgreSQL, on-prem to cloud) and manage performance tuning and index management.
- Conduct backup, recovery, PITR, and configure DR replication, streaming replication, WAL replication, and failover.
- Automate tasks with shell scripting, and set up monitoring tools for database health and performance.
- Configure Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and audit plugins to improve security. - Manage PostgreSQL partitioning, system catalogs, and high availability setups (e.g., Patroni or other 3-node clusters).
What You Bring to the Role
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and performance tuning (shared_memory, work_mem, maintenance_work_mem, buffer cache, etc.).
- Experience with backup and recovery tools such as BART, BARMAN, and other PostgreSQL utilities.
- Knowledge of tools like PGAdmin4, PGPool, PEM, ORA2PG for migrations and management.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery and high availability configurations, including streaming replication and Patroni clusters.
- Solid grasp of Linux OS and any major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Expertise with additional PostgreSQL management tools and cloud platform certifications.
