JOB OVERVIEW: JUNIOR PROGRAMMER ANALYST
Reporting to the Director/Manager IT Business Services, Information & Educational Technology this position is responsible for performing the design, planning, analysis, implementation, enhancement, maintenance, administration and support of KPU’s IT systems and to provide programming and technical support for the software development of KPU’s IT systems including analysis, user interface and code design, implementation, performance and security.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a college or university diploma/degree in computing studies.
- At least 2 years’ experience in application development (preferably at least a year’s experience in a post-secondary environment working directly with BANNER). This would include:
- Web languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Groovy and Grails, React and other web programming languages
- Programming languages: SQL, PL/SQL, Pro*C/C, Java, Shell scripting, Power Shell
- ORACLE Database experience required (optional: MS SQL Server, mySQL, Postgre, etc). Along with familiarization of database concepts.
- Operating platforms may include: Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mobile technologies, Mac, etc.
- At least 2 years’ experience with deploying and configuring the following SharePoint capabilities:
- InfoPath Form Development,
- SharePoint Designer,
- SharePoint Workflows,
- Custom/Data View Web parts.
- At least 1 year experience with Data Warehousing, particularly using Microsoft tools such as Power BI and SSIS.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough knowledge of systems development techniques and methodologies.
- Knowledge of design patterns and ability to analyze, design and implement components / applications by applying best practices and coding standards.
- Knowledge of sign-on methodologies (such as Open LDAP, ADFS and Shibboleth).
- Progressive technical knowledge and knowledge of best practices in information technology service delivery such as Agile SDLC and ITIL.
- Strong content presentation skills including interpreting webpage layout and user application interfaces.
- Experience in composing training and education materials and training small groups on new technology initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and well developed interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a collaborative project team environment with minimal supervision.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
