Job Summary

 

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Platform Applications & Identity Services, the successful candidate will be providing expert administration, technical and functional guidance in areas of technology, processes, operating procedures focusing on core areas including Exchange, Mail Gateways, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Active Directory. This role will include both project work, operational work, managing assigned work requests and providing 3rd level support for helpdesk incidents.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration of on-premise Exchange 2016 and Exchange Online with M365.
  • Configure, support and optimize a hybrid email environment.
  • Perform migrations and deployments related to the building, upgrade and maintenance of MS Exchange.
  • Perform administrative activities in Cisco Mail gateway infrastructure and Active Directory, Azure AD, PKI, Certificates and GPO’s.
  • Manage updates, ensure systems are patched to the latest appropriate releases using SCCM CB, WSUS & SCCM Enterprise Patching.
  • Assist with maintaining and monitoring best practices and standards for server enterprise applications, operating systems and cloud environments.
  • Follow the City of Mississauga solution delivery methodology and deliver technical projects while adhering to project plans and budgets.
  • Create technical documentation, implementation procedures, architectural diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures and lab testing as required.
  • Collaborate with IT Architects, Project leaders and Management to understand their needs and build infrastructure as required.
  • Work closely with IT Security team to maintain and improve security posture.
  • Assist other IT System Specialists, application developers, and web authors/developers to provision, configure, maintain, monitor, patch, cluster, upgrade and troubleshoot Windows Servers environment.
  • Take ownership of complex technical issues, and work with vendors towards timely resolution.
  • Promote a positive work environment through initiative, teamwork and leadership by example.
  • Occasional work outside of regular business hours is a requirement of the job.
  • Available to work after hours On-Call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum 5 years’ experience administrating and supporting server infrastructure in an Information Technology environment or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience supporting a hybrid Exchange environment with Office 365/Azure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2016, 2019 & Exchange Online administration including migration, mail flow, routing, retention policies, filters, e-discovery etc., and best practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, GPO’s, PKI, DNS, and Networking.
  • Experience with PowerShell, batch scripting and automating processes.
  • Experience with the administration of System Center Configuration Management Current Branch, Orchestrator, Microsoft Patching and WSUS.
  • Experience with ServerNetwork Monitoring solutions as asset.
  • Experience building and supporting HA solutions an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a group on projects with set timelines.
  • Ability to provide expert advice and guidance on IT issues to clients, colleagues, management, committees, or inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Industry standard certifications from Microsoft, Azure, EntraID and AWS an asset.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 89,464.00 - $ 119,286.00
Hours of Work: 35
Work Location: Civic Centre - Hybrid office environment with regular attendance at City Hall as per City policy (onsite presence 3 days a week)
