Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer is primarily responsible for developing and engaging learning solutions to meet project-specific and organizational needs. These solutions incorporate adult learning best practices and maximize both transfer and retention of learning.
The Instructional Designer collaborates with other IDs and the Manager, Learning Design & Delivery to identify learning gaps and needs, and then design and build interactive learning solutions using appropriate development tools to meet established milestones and project requirements. They also maintain learning materials to ensure that content remains current, relevant, and effective.
This position requires working with internal and external SMEs to ensure content accuracy, implementing feedback from reviewers, and ensuring that content in our Learning Management System is deployed properly. Instructional Designers may also facilitate train-the-trainer sessions as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing engaging training materials that conform to best practices in adult learning
- Updating existing training materials based on learner and SME feedback to conform to new and changing business needs
- Working with operational and functional subject matter experts, reviewers, and other stakeholders
- Curating learning materials in an LMS, maintain reinforcement content, and collect data on training effectiveness.
- LMS administration
- Facilitating train-the-trainer sessions and participating in pilot training sessions when necessary
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous experience as an Instructional Designer (Minimum 3-years preferred)
- Analytical skills to identify learner needs and learning gaps and to develop appropriate learning solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design models
- Experience building engaging solutions for virtual, in-person, and blended learning
- Experience building storyboards, videos, job aids, and other supporting materials
- Experience with industry-standard eLearning and video authoring tools (Articulate 360 and Vyond experience is preferred)
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (Axonify preferred)
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Formal education in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or similar relevant field
- Certification from either the Institute for Performance and Learning or the Association for Talent Development (CTDP, CPTD, or CPLP preferred)
- Previous experience in call centre operations and the financial industry
