Who we are
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it. We operate the province’s electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario’s electricity needs – now and into the future.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Finance & Accounting, the position will work as a member of the Finance team and provide a variety of finance and business analysis.
What you'll do
- Financial Reporting and Financial Analysis: Prepare accruals, journal entries and key account reconciliations related to capital assets, receivables, prepaids, connection assessments and provide assistance and analysis in other areas as required
- Coordinate and lead the Connection Assessment invoicing process
- Maintain Chart of Accounts for Connection Assessment activities in Lawson and Vena
- Issue other Corporate invoices and liaise with other departments as required.
- Participate in the drafting of quarterly/year-end financial statements and related note disclosures for Corporate general ledgers
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of Capital Assets sub-ledger (including in-service assets, capitalized interest, depreciation and disposals) and ensuring the sub-ledger is reconciled to the general ledger.
- Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to address inquiries related to general accounting, vendors and invoices, maintain a customer focused attitude through appropriate customer interaction
- Participate in preparation of governmental reporting to the Ministry (ie OGO Reporting)
- Participate in preparation of other governmental reporting (Statistics Canada capital spend survey, International Transactions in Commercial Services, Preliminary Capital Spending)
- Participate in new projects and testing as required
- Assist in gathering data and providing support for interim and year-end audit processes
- Review processes and lead process improvement initiatives to ensure that work is performed in an efficient and effective manner
- Prepare other management reporting and control reporting as required
What you need to succeed
- Ability to quickly understand complex transactions and present them in a simplified manner and act accordingly to propose and develop solutions
- Strong general computing skills
- Experience enterprise resource package (ERP) system, such as Oracle, Peoplesoft, Lawson SAP, etc.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (word, excel, outlook);
- Good oral and written communication skills; good listening skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience in building effective business procedures
- Action oriented
- Client/customer focused
- Team player, works well with others in an office environment
- Ability to develop peer relationships across the organization
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to process large volumes of detailed work accurately and on time
- The education required to complete the responsibilities associated with the position is typically obtained through 4 years of university training
- The minimum level of experience for the incumbent to perform at a satisfactory level of proficiency is 4-6 years

The IESO commenced Hybrid Work Model Program. The Model allows for remote working up to three days per week, based on business needs. When working in the office, you will be located in Toronto or Mississauga.
