Job Overview:
Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager of Store Planning, the Design Technologist has the responsibility for all initial Fixture Plan proposals and Design Options for all assigned projects, and for taking the Fixture Plan from the beginning of the drawing process to Operational Approval prior to Engineering.
Accountabilities:
• Produce Fixture Plans for New Builds, Renovations, and Rollouts.
• Design Fixture Layouts with minimal/no direction, taking the known requirements to craft a viable layout
• Attend Meetings where drawings are to be reviewed and markup drawings during the meeting.
• Draft agenda and take minutes for Monday Alignment meetings.
• Assign markups to consultants and review consultant’s work prior to publishing drawings.
• Ensure standard design and drawing procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure drawing quality and accuracy.
• Attend Coordination Meetings with Architects.
• Gather and interpret data in various forms from various sources and translate it into a Fixture Layout.
• Work with and understand various business groups to best interpret their needs regarding the layout of the stores.
• Prepare design calculations as assigned by the Sr. Manager.
• Approach the drafting of Fixture Layouts in a detailed and consistent manor to the rest of the team
• Build and handle various project trackers in spreadsheet form
• Handle own work activities effectively to meet required timeframes, assisting other team members when needed.
• Provide advice and insights to Business Directors on space planning and other construction obstacles that may impede the projects.
Role Requirements
• Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Minimum of one year in a Revit Design position
• At least one year Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD experience
• Working knowledge of MS Excel
• Strong problem solving skills required
• Strong analytical and mathematical proficiency required
• Excellent written & oral communication skills
• Able to take minimal direction and take initiative
• Able to balance multiple projects at once
• People orientated
• Able to perform in a fast paced environment
