JOB SUMMARY
The Rates and Revenue Advisor is responsible for providing advice and support to the Regulatory Affairs Group. This position interfaces with a variety of internal and external business stakeholders to ensure all financial transactions are tracked and regulatory financial reporting activities are accurate, coordinated, comprehensive and delivered in a timely manner. The Rates and Revenue Advisor also supports ongoing and special projects related to revenue and cost flows/ recoveries.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:
Through the development of reporting tools, help coordinate, monitor and assist in reporting variance and deferral accounts, as detailed in the Accounting Procedures Handbook
Review and validate transactions coded to variance and deferral accounts in cooperation with Billing and Finance
Ensure existing and new business charges are accurately mapped to the Uniform Standard of Accounts (US of A)
Submit monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner
Provide guidance and oversight on initiatives or projects that impact regulatory financial reporting
Assist the manager in the budgeting and forecasting of distribution and cost of power revenues and cost of power expenses
Monitor and analyze distribution and cost of power revenue and provide variance explanations to budgets and forecast
Assist in the formulation of ‘cost-side’ variances to ensure the appropriate recoveries are applied for, with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB)
Keep apprised of ongoing changes in regulatory and industry activities that impact financial reporting requirements and results
Participate in consultations by the OEB on accounting/financial matters
Work closely with operational divisions to ensure regulatory strategies are considered for financial reporting and budgets
Develop and coordinate/conduct studies and prepare reports and recommendations relating to electricity rates, electricity bill impacts, electricity cost of service and revenues
Develop and maintain relationships with key functional stakeholders
Actively participate in activities or initiatives that promote awareness of financial, regulatory and industry issues
Perform other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education in accounting
A minimum of 5 years related experience
Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA, CA) considered an asset
English essential, both oral and written
Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, the details of which the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.
