About the role
Our growing team is looking for an Accounting Specialist!
The specialist will be part of the expense allocation team responsible for the PCMCS expense allocation tool and the EPBCS budget process tool. The candidate will be involved with the month-end and annual budgeting processes. In addition, our candidate will play an active role in projects that impact the expense allocation and/or budget process.
What you’ll do here:
- Participate in the expense allocations process by collaborating with regional Finance teams to ensure allocations are accurate (month-end & budget allocations)
- Analyse and explain expense variances against Budget and historical comparative data
- Participate in maintenance and development of the PCMCS expense allocations tool and the EPBCS budget tool
- Ensure the process is well documented and strong controls are in place
- Ensure a good and efficient data flow during the budget process between various stakeholders including regional Finance teams and Actuarial
- Support and validate expense allocations along with the regional Finance teams
- Participate in implementation of any new or changed accounting standards
- Liaison with both internal and external auditors
- Maintain a robust internal control environment. Participate in updating 52-109 documentation along with ensuring accurate and sufficient supporting documentation exists
What you bring to the table:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Robust skills in Excel and Oracle systems knowledge (PCMCS, EPBCS, Smartivew)
- Strong analytic skills and problem solving with a capacity of identifying problems and developing creatives solutions.
- Autonomous, proactive, and good team player with a positive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Can work on more then one tasks and/or projects simultaneously.
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
