Good Shepherd is preparing to launch a new, innovative shelter that will provide emergency accommodation to individuals and domestic partnerships currently living in encampments .
This housing-focused shelter program, will offer stand-alone units for residents (and their pets) on a City-owned site at Tiffany and Barton Streets. The program team will provide intensive, adaptive supports and services to residents with highly complex barriers to finding and sustaining housing in the community.
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager the Driver enhances the dignity and quality of life for our clients, visitors, staff by assisting in the day to day driving operation for the service and always ensuring efficient and careful handling to maximize the highest quality.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Make note of the day's scheduled deliveries and deadlines.
- Work closely with warehouse personnel to ensure that the delivery route and load organization are fully optimized.
- Make sure that everything has been delivered in a timely manner as schedule
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity with a demonstrated knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, substance use/addictions and developmental disabilities.
- Minimum Grade 12 education and / or 1-year experience in related field.
- Hold a valid Class G driving license (Class 5) with a minimum of 3-year driving experience and with a good driver record.
- Enjoys fostering a positive relationship.
- Be able to lift minimum 50 lbs. and has due regard for safe working practices.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment.
- Available and responsive to the needs of others.
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- CPR Certificate (or willingness to be certified) will also be required
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment.
- Hospitable in dealings with clients/public/volunteers/staff, and other key stakeholders.
- Experience working in environments that accommodate pets/animals, with a readiness to support clients with companion animals; ensuring their needs are met with compassion and understanding.
- Ability to work effectively in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Available and responsive to the needs of others.
- Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
- Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
