This role sits within Laurentian Bank.Seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Product Manager to drive our payments modernization journey. Reporting to the AVP of Payments, the Senior Product Manager of Payments plays a leading role in managing the assigned portfolio and Payments product roadmap, determining short to long-term strategy and execution for the bank.
With an enterprise-wide focus, the Payments team’s responsibilities at Laurentian Bank includes a focus on digital payments and its associated capabilities, that can be leveraged across multiple lines of business, products and features. This is a highly collaborative role, where the individual will work closely with our line of business partners, Digital, Operations, Technology, Fraud, AML and Risks, to transform the payment experience for our clients, ranging from retail, small businesses to commercial clients.

- With respect to product development and infrastructure changes, this role has overall responsibilities for projects, including oversight of business requirements, collaboration of functional requirements documents, satisfaction of bank’s governance criteria, Fraud requirements, compliance with AML/ATF/Sanctions and business risk requirements, review, and approval of test plans, conducting business validation testing and sign-off on production launch.
- Manage business risk & compliance across suite of payments products.
- Understanding competitors’ offerings and industry trends, serve as a central source of payments industry knowledge and expertise, helping to provide thought leadership, research, and education.
- Ongoing management of all aspects of the payments portfolio including adoption, usage, revenue, share analysis, research, portfolio metrics reporting, competitive positioning reviews and develop action plans to enhance performance.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Partner with digital, marketing, operations, technology, and sales effectiveness to develop strategies and tactics that influence profitability, sales and portfolio performance.
- Provide oversight of several vendor relationships
- May represent bank at some industry forums and working groups.
- Deep payments experience. Understanding of both commercial and retail payments is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Payments Canada's current platforms (ACSS, LVTS, USBE) and global clearing and market infrastructures (Fed, CHIPS, CHAPS, TARGET2, Faster Payments, SWIFT ETC).
- 8+ years payments related experience, especially working knowledge in Real Time Rail, e-Transfer, debit/credit cards, mobile payments, bill pay, Cross border money movement and ISO20022 a bonus
- Knowledge of the Canadian Payments landscape, industry players and ecosystem, as well as industry networks preferred.
- Working knowledge of Canadian payment rules, regulations and applicable laws.
- Working knowledge of payment operations surrounding clearing & settlement, and FI cash & treasury management activities would be an asset
- Knowledge of payments data classification and governance requirements an asset
- Extensive experience in leading strategic transformational initiatives to align with the enterprise business strategic goals and vision
- Excellent skills and ability to build and maintain internal stakeholder relations along with industry partners and vendors
- Previous management experience in a product P&L (i.e. understands business drivers/strategies), will be highly considered
- Must have experience in business casing, launching new products and services
- Self-motivated, adaptive and results oriented individual with strong leadership, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of successful delivery of medium to large size initiatives
- Bilingual (French/English) verbal and written communication skills are assets
- Working knowledge of Onboarding, Know Your Customer, Anti Money Laundering processes
