ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Manager/Senior Manager, Alpha Science, you will participate in building the team and tools that leverage AI, data and analytics in order to facilitate the generation of alpha for PSP. To this end, you will:

• Provide data driven insights to deal teams across PSP’s asset classes to pressure-test, challenge, or validate investment theses, thus building a deep expertise in prioritized sectors:

  • Build a deep understanding of sector’s value drivers, alternative data, and public markets outlook

  • Draw out insights from a wide range of datasets, including market data, alternative data, and portfolio company data, using ad-hoc analyses, Alpha Science’s generative-AI based tools, etc

  • Work with Alpha Science’s technical team to refine our models’ sector insights & forecasts

  • Foster a strong network of peers, advisors, and vendors in the sector

• Embed with deal teams during due diligence processes to bring a ‘red team’ perspective, pressure-testing and challenging investment theses based on sector-based data & analytical insights

• Articulate ‘Alpha Science outlook’ on investment targets within prioritized sectors and contribute to growing and positioning the team’s value-added insights in driving optimal alpha generation

• Where relevant, autonomously work with deal teams to build data science / AI into asset growth plans and advise PSP’s portfolio company management teams on the implementation of data science / AI value creation opportunities

• Support deployment of AI tools to support investors in their day-to-day operations

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• BSc in Business Administration / Management, Finance, Economics, or any equivalent degree from a recognized university

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in top-tier consulting or investing

• Experience in Transportation & Logistics or Health Care sectors is an asset

• Experience working with data science / AI teams is an asset

• Demonstrated ability to draw out sharp insights from wide range of datasets, including alternative data, and apply these to investment and/or business context

• Demonstrated ability to conduct analyses using range of tools, including (but not limited to) Excel and Generative AI models

• Resourceful and creative, with demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

• Highly effective written and verbal communication

• Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
