It offers not only direction\, but also a steady hand at the wheel\, guiding us forward together toward new horizons. \nThis webinar\, presented in partnership with QueerTech\, will feature leaders who are redefining how mentoring can strengthen our community and shape its next wave of leaders. Jennifer publishes articles\, hosts events\, and speaks publicly in French and English about the theory and practice of mentoring in different settings and sectors. She speaks regularly on the intersection of mentorship and equity\, diversity and inclusion and has launched national and international partnerships to make inclusive mentoring more accessible to members of equity-deserving groups. A proud ally\, in 2004 Jennifer advised Canada’s LGBTQ+ Chambers of Commerce on Out For Business\, the chamber’s mentorship program for entrepreneurs. Jennifer volunteers regularly as a mentor and is herself a mentee in perpetual evolution. \n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″] \n\nEustacio (Andy) Saldaña (he/him)\nCo-Founder & COO\, QueerTech \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] \nEustacio (Andy) Saldaña is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of QueerTech\, a Canadian non-profit focused on empowering\, connecting\, and increasing the visibility of 2SLGBTQ+ technologists and entrepreneurs. The organization is dedicated to the mission of queering the tech ecosystem. Previously\, he served as the Executive Director of the NY Tech Alliance\, a non-profit organization that runs the world’s largest Meetup group\, the NY Tech Meetup (NYTM). With over 60\,000 members and a mission to build a more sustainable\, diverse\, and equitable technology industry for all New Yorkers\, the organization is a central figure in the NY Tech ecosystem. A fervent advocate for diversity\, access\, and inclusion in technology\, Andy excels in building relationships and fostering dialogues that drive change. She previously served as principal researcher for the White Paper on the Status of Trans and Gender Diverse People\, a document tabled in Parliament with 29 recommendations to strengthen trans rights at the federal level. Currently\, Dylana partners with community organizations and grassroots groups in several provinces to advocate for stronger gender-affirming care policies\, among other key initiatives. A graduate of Carleton University’s Master of Political Management program\, she brings political expertise and strategic insight to support 2SLGBTQI+ movements nationwide \n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″] \n \nRahim Thawer (he/him)\nRegistered Social Worker and\nCertified Clinical Supervisor \n  \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″] \nRahim Thawer (he/him) is a registered social worker (OCSWSSW) and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) based in Toronto. He works as an instructor\, psychotherapist\, consultant\, public speaker\, podcast host\, and writer. He is the founder of Affective Consulting & Psychotherapy Services (est. 2014) and has delivered nearly 200 presentations across North America and Europe. His community workshops foster critical dialogue and reflection on mental health\, systemic oppression\, interpersonal dynamics\, and innovation in queer relationships. \nRahim teaches at The University of Alabama\, where he is also completing a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) with a specialization in organizational leadership. As a queer Muslim\, his clinical and scholarly work sits at the intersection of mental health and social justice. His doctoral research explores how anti-racist\, queer-affirming psychoanalytic frameworks can support social workers\, therapists-in-training\, and organizational leaders. \nHe was one of the co-editors of Any Other Way: How Toronto Got Queer (Coach House Books\, 2016)\, a Toronto Book Awards finalist\, and his latest book\, The Mental Health Guide for Cis and Trans Queer Guys (New Harbinger Publications)\, was released in June 2025. Since 2020\, they have worked in the Community-Based Research Centre’s communications department\, crafting compelling promotional products that support the organization’s research and advocacy on queer and trans health. \nFrancesco is also a doctoral candidate in political science at Concordia University in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal\, QC). Their research explores 2S/LGBTQIA+ political representation\, citizenship and policy problems in Canada. We will bring trans\, non-binary\, and agender professionals from across Canada. \nIn this session\, we will explore a peer networking style of learning\, where attendees will dive into meaningful discussions\, share experiences\, and offer mutual support. Participants will engage in multiple breakout sessions\, while forging valuable connections with other professionals and job seekers. Following these individual interactions\, we will come together as a group to reflect on the insights gained and close the event with a collaborative wrap-up. \nHelp us make Matrices a safer event! All attendees will be provided with a set of community guidelines for this event that they will be expected to read and abide by. Pride at Work Canada staff will be present in the main room at all times and volunteer facilitators will be rotating within some of the 1-1 speed networking rounds. Trained as a lawyer\, he worked in the community youth sector and in the HIV/AIDS sector. He participates actively in research\, especially projects concerning the quality of life of people living with HIV and prevention for men who have sex with men. He holds degrees in Industrial Relations\, Common and Civil Law from McGill University and was a member of the Québec Bar from 1991 to 2001\, when he resigned to devote himself more fully to his community work on HIV/AIDS. This powerful documentary chronicles the journey of Delwin Vriend\, a man who was dismissed from a Christian university in Edmonton for being gay. \nHis fight against this discrimination led to a landmark Supreme Court case\, Vriend v Alberta\, which played a crucial role in advancing 2SLGBTQI+ rights in Canada. He was born on the lands of the Pur’hépecha\, the Coca\, and the Tecuexe. She spent most of her youth in Amiskwacîwâskahikan. They are now building his life on the ancestral territories of Xwməθkwəy̓əm\, Skwxwú7mesh\, and Səlilwətaɬ people and families. \nKeimi is a Disabled\, bilingual\, learner\, worker and artist. Her art practice incorporates creative access\, reading\, writing\, weaving\, printmaking\, and more. His work and worldview have been shaped through his learning of Disability Justice\, and Black Feminist theory. Pride at Work Canada seeks to create space for professional and job-seeking trans\, non-binary and agender people to find support from and make connections with one another. Her participation in BBC marked a pivotal point in her career\, as she entered the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of viewers. Described by Métro newspaper as the “Discovery of the Year”\, her career in French-language show business continues\, with her hosting her own gala at the Dr. Mobilo Aquafest and taking part in various festivals (Just For Laughs\, ComediHA!\, Festival d’humour émergent\, etc.).\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \nWorkshop in French*\nStrength in Community: Leveraging our Strengths in the Fight Against Rising Hate\nGoing beyond the idea of “resilience”\, it’s time to recognize and explore the strengths that come from our intersectional 2SLGBTQIA+ identities and lived experiences – and how we can apply those to our work in employee resource groups and inclusion councils in this climate of rising hate.  \nOver the past year\, there has been a rise in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests\, attacks\, and political movements. Within this context\, our employee resource groups and inclusion councils are facing immense pressure in our work\, increasing calls for support from the community we serve\, and the immense weight that comes with working on issues related to our personal identities. As many 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people don’t feel safe in many professional networking spaces\, Rendez-Vous: 2SLGBTQIA+ Women x Non-Binary Digital Connect creates a unique opportunity for 2SLGBTQIA+ women and non-binary people to make professional connections in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere! \n*Pride at Work Canada understands that these terms may not resonate with everyone and endeavors to include all those who do not identify as men. This includes trans women\, cis women\, non-binary folks\, agender folks\, and more. Shelly believes\, in order to achieve true equality and liberation for Black people in Canada\, the movement for systemic change must include a transfeminist approach that challenges both homophobia and misogyny and fights for disability justice. With Shelly’s fresh new take on Equity\, Diversity and Inclusion\, she is using a Social Justice Framework to ensure fair treatment\, access\, opportunity\, and advancement for all. Sandeep has led programmes and campaigns\, and provided training and consultancy services to drive the EDI strategy across various organizations in the Asian region. He has played a key role in developing three research publications\, to achieve success in creating a safe and inclusive society. Sandeep is on the board of Nanaimo Pride Society and SIETAR BC (Society For Intercultural Education Research And Training).\n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \n[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″]Misha Goforth (she/her)\, Manager of Social Research & Development\, Pride at Work Canada \nMisha Goforth is a project manager and gender equity specialist with several years of experience in the international development and policy field. She holds a Master of International Public Policy from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. In her professional and academic careers\, Misha is devoted to integrating gender justice and intersectionality into public policy in the international development and environmental fields and has a keen interest in advancing 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in these spaces. In 2019\, she presented on “Gender and the Environment” at the International Conference on Environmental Science and Technology where she led a discussion on the integration of gender-equitable approaches to environmental research. For the past several years\, she has worked as a gender advisor with the Government of Mongolia where she helped pass the first Gender-Responsive Policy for the extractive sector in Mongolia.
