Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm EDT.
This session will be offered in French. The English session will be on September 29, 2020.
Pride at Work Canada has been bringing women and nonbinary people together over breakfast in a dozen cities across Canada for years. Though we can’t safely hold in-person events right now, we are forever optimists. We’re seizing on this opportunity to connect women and nonbinary people online, regardless of where they live.
Rendez Vous: Women x Nonbinary Digital Connect is the next evolution of our popular LGBTQ2+ Women’s Networking Breakfasts program. It’s a unique opportunity for women and nonbinary people to connect on matters of employment and workplace inclusion in a casual and comfortable setting – from anywhere!
Our guest speaker for the inaugural Rendez-Vous events will be Chris Bergeron, VP Content Experience at Cosette and 2020 Adweek + ADCOLOR Diversity and Inclusion Champion. Chris will deliver brief remarks, then the attendees will be placed into 10 random breakout rooms to discuss her story or any other topic (we won’t have conversation inspectors). After the breakout room discussions, we’ll have a groupshare moment to close the session, providing any relevant next-steps.
Chris lived the first 40 years of her life as a heterosexual man. She enjoyed a successful career from early on as a contributor to major media outlets like La Presse and Radio‑Canada. She then spent five years as chief editor of VOIR, the largest network of weekly cultural magazines in Quebec at that time. After that, she made the jump to advertising, assuming the role of creative director for several top agencies.
Then she came out as a trans woman and started living her life as her true self.
Suddenly being faced with the reality of belonging to a visible sexual minority profoundly changed her view of the working world and of leadership in particular. Both at home and abroad, Chris actively promotes diversity, inclusion, and the rights of transgender people by sharing her story on the public stage. Furthermore, she often advocates for better representation of minorities in the advertising industry.
At Cossette, she leads a multidisciplinary team of strategists, community managers and multiplatform content creators. She’s also part of a collective that strives to push the limits of her agency’s creative products at the Montreal office. With her creative and strategic vision, she unlocks the digital potential of Cossette’s clients.
Her account portfolio comprises several major brands, including McDonald’s Canada, Destination Canada, Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec, Tourisme Montréal, Loto‑Québec, SAQ, L’Oréal, BDC, VIA Rail and General Mills.
