How You Will Make an Impact
In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of Clients living at Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counselling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching ie: cooking and linkages with other community services. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity.
Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- A post-secondary degree/diploma in social work/social services/child and youth services etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working with transitional-aged youth, youth homelessness and substance use/abuse
- Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus
- A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively are required
- Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
- Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
- Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.
- HOURS: : Part-Time includes rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights), 2 shifts on weekends and stat holidays
